Job description

 

The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency standards are met. This role provides leadership to production teams, coordinates workflow, resolves issues, and drives continuous improvement to support plant goals.

Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees to meet shift targets.
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and ensure proper staffing for all production lines.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence to observe processes, troubleshoot issues, and support employees.
  • Enforce company policies, work rules, and attendance expectations consistently and fairly.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture; ensure employees follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety talks, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.

Quality & Productivity

  • Ensure products meet quality specifications and immediately resolve deviations.
  • Monitor KPIs such as scrap, downtime, output, and efficiency.
  • Partner with Quality and Maintenance teams to minimize defects and improve uptime.
  • Complete required shift reports, logs, and documentation accurately and timely.

Training & Development

  • Train and cross‑train employees on equipment, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and corrective action when needed.
  • Support onboarding and 30‑60‑90 day employee check‑ins.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify waste, bottlenecks, and process issues; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Lead or participate in problem‑solving activities and improvement projects.
  • Support company initiatives related to culture, engagement, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing supervision or team leadership preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production principles.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
  • Computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, production systems).
  • Willingness to work required shift, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Lift, push, or pull up to (insert appropriate weight).
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and variable temperatures.
