Why This Role Matters
This role sits at the intersection of purchasing, materials support, and plant execution. The position supports purchasing activity connected to more than $100 million in corporately sourced raw materials through the purchasing team, while also taking on a meaningful MRO and parts room improvement challenge. The successful leader will help bring more structure, accuracy, ownership, and service discipline to a busy parts room environment that directly impacts maintenance readiness, downtime response, and production support.
- Support the purchasing team responsible for corporately sourced raw materials
- Partner with corporate sourcing, suppliers, operations, maintenance, and production to keep materials, parts, and services moving
- Improve purchasing follow-through, order discipline, delivery visibility, supplier responsiveness, and escalation processes
- Stabilize and improve the MRO parts room as a key operational priority, including creating better organization, clearer ownership, stronger inventory discipline, and more reliable support for maintenance and production
- Strengthen parts availability, inventory accuracy, storage organization, and service expectations for maintenance and production support
What You’ll Own
- Leadership of the purchasing team supporting corporately sourced raw materials and related purchasing activity
- Local purchasing execution, including purchase orders, supplier follow-up, delivery tracking, expediting, issue resolution, and internal customer support
- Partnership with corporate sourcing to align plant needs, raw material requirements, supplier communication, and purchasing priorities
- MRO parts room leadership, including improving organization, accountability, service expectations, transaction discipline, labeling, storage practices, follow-through, and day-to-day issue resolution
- MRO inventory strategy, including addressing excess, obsolete, hard-to-find, duplicated, or poorly classified parts while strengthening critical spares, min/max levels, cycle counts, replenishment discipline, and inventory accuracy
- Parts availability and responsiveness to maintenance work orders, urgent repairs, planned shutdowns, and production support needs
- Daily leadership of buyers and parts room team members with clear expectations, coaching, communication, and accountability
Profile
This Role May Be a Strong Fit If You
- Have led or improved an MRO parts room, storeroom, maintenance inventory, or plant materials function
- Know how to create order in a busy parts room without losing urgency or customer service
- Understand how poor inventory accuracy, weak replenishment, or missing parts can impact maintenance and production
- Can lead people while staying close enough to the work to remove barriers and improve daily execution
- Communicate well with maintenance, production, warehouse, suppliers, and corporate sourcing
Success Looks Like
- A more organized, accurate, and service-focused MRO parts room
- Better availability of critical spares, repair parts, and maintenance supplies
- Improved min/max discipline, cycle count accuracy, and ERP transaction quality
- Faster response to urgent maintenance needs and fewer production-impacting parts issues
- A parts room and purchasing team that understands expectations and takes ownership of execution
What You Bring
- 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing materials, MRO, purchasing, supply chain, maintenance stores, or inventory leadership
- Hands-on experience improving parts room, storeroom, or MRO inventory performance
- Strong understanding of critical spares, min/max planning, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and replenishment processes
- Experience supporting maintenance and production in a manufacturing or plant operations environment
