This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the safe and efficient oversight of multiple areas/departments across shifts.

Job description

We are seeking a dynamic individual that has a high level of energy and ability to energize others, is passionate for his/her work, enjoys problem solving and is focused on execution. This position requires a great deal of time and energy on the manufacturing floor working through complex processes and is heavily focused on throughput and efficiency. The successful candidate will be a good motivator and team leader that possesses a positive ‘can do’ attitude while achieving goals of the highest standards. This key team leader will provide effective leadership and promote positive working relationships across all functions in the assigned facility and the company.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned areas/departments within the facility.  This includes all work performed in assigned area for all shifts.
  • Ensures assigned teams are operating within the designed manufacturing plans and assists in improvements to the efficiency of the work.
  • Works with HR to ensure a firm understanding of company policies, communicates to teams clearly and leads by example.
  • Ensures EHS policies and guidelines are met within the department.
  • Effectively plans work and manages labor to ensure efficient execution.
  • Executes schedule with a sense of urgency and with sincere concern for safety, quality, delivery, impact and cost.
  • Maintains required documentation on all projects for assigned areas.
  • Responsible for coaching and the overall performance of assigned department managers, supervisors, and team.  Actively participates in the recruiting, selecting, training and coaching for assigned areas.
  • Observes, reports and corrects behaviors that are unsafe.
  • Works closely with the Production Scheduler to execute production plans and provide active feedback on timeline concerns as they are identified.
  • Gives adequate direction, effectively supervises, counsels employees on performance issues or concerns, aids and/or trains when appropriate.  When necessary, initiates disciplinary action.  Works with Human Resources to resolve problems as needed.
  • Works with the facility leadership to ensure a safe working environment
  • Communicates with employees regularly and seeks their input on issues regarding problem solving

Work Relationships

  • Reports to the Plant Manager
  • Direct Reports include Production Manager, Technical Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, and other employees in assigned areas.
  • Works closely with other managers within the plant for resource management
  • Works closely with Quality to ensure no gaps exist in work process
